A Healthy Snack to Get You Going
If you do nothing else on the page for a philosopher, you should consume these videos every chance you get: they’re not only informative, but usually funny and typically 2 minutes or under. Good and good for you!
Warm Up (Your Synapses)
These are also short and often amusing intros to your philosopher, but provide a slightly greater challenge. Warmups take a little more effort on your part than just eating a healthy snack, but if all we ever do is eat and never move, no matter how healthy we're snacking, we're not going to get fit. So let's get in shape!
Stretch (Your Mind)
Nothing will help you recover from a workout more than being flexible. This is as true for your mind as your body. So don’t just rely on the warmup – stretch out when you get the chance. These materials will start to challenge your limits, but they aren’t long and have an amazing ability to calm life’s chaos!
Strengthen (Your Knowledge)
Okay, you got your fuel, warmed up your engines, and stretched out, but nothing will prevent getting hurt or worn out more than having a strong core. I won’t kid you, you’ll be lifting some philosophical weight here, but the payoff will be worth it! You don’t have to do these materials for every philosopher, but when you find one that resonates with you, that’s the time to engage.

Gain the Wisdom You’ve Trained For.
All the work out elements up to this point have arguably been more entertaining than educational – “edutainment”. Now, the first four steps will keep you philosophically healthy, but why not put your training to the test? This course has been taken by students from sixth grade to first years in college. The youngest amongst you should try at least a couple. Most high school students should push themselves to engage with these videos for 8 - 12 philosophers by the end of Sophie’s World. More advanced high school and college students I’m sure will find 16-24 philosophers they would enjoy learning more about with these materials if they give them a try. The more you do it, the easier it gets!

Go the Extra (Philosophical) Mile
Haven’t been able to get enough of a particular philosopher? Just as you wouldn’t run a marathon every day, you may not want to check out these links for every philosopher you encounter in Sophie’s World, but you may for those who really speak to you. Advanced high school and college students should at least try a few!
Are You Ready to Work Out with...
...Famous Philosophers from Sophie’s World?
Every philosopher (and a few other historical figures) who appear in the novel will get a treatment following this format. The links it provides will take you to (mostly) videos fitting these general descriptions. The titles for those links will tell you the rest.
